Gary Delaney
Gary has always been a writer for as long as he can remember. In 1986, he got his first big break when a national weekly newspaper published his comic strip ‘The British Bulldogs’.
Since then, his path led him to create children’s books right up to 2003 when he wrote his first script for a short film, ‘The Luckiest Guy in the World’. A film he produced and directed for the first time.
He produced and wrote the feature film Gridiron UK (released in the USA as The Gridiron). When he secured a pre-sale deal with Universal, it was they who insisted that he be the director, as it was a very personal story. Having directed four short films, he relished the opportunity to direct his own feature film. Gridiron UK was released in the UK in September 2012 and worldwide by Screen Media.
Gary got involved with the film ‘Hello Darlin’ at a very early stage when he met with the producer Patrick Carney over lunch. He didn’t like the original draft of the story and proposed his own version, which was wholeheartedly accepted. Gary stated, “Hello Darlin’ became very personal to me, and I wanted to ensure the vision I had was carried through. I like to de-
scribe this movie as a modern-day black-and-white film.
All story. I think the fact that we shot this film in just three weeks is a remarkable achievement, even managing to re-shoot two scenes. Outstanding work from the whole cast and crew. “
Patrick Carney JR.
Patrick Carney Jr., while a relative newcomer to the film industry at the age of 71, is keen to make his mark on British Cinema.
